ABOUT
ABOUT BOLD FASHION
Some businesses are built in boardrooms, Bold Fashion Curaçao was born in a prayer.
What began in 2013 with a pile of buttons and a desperate need
to find purpose has grown into one of Curaçao’s most
distinctive creative brands, a world of heritage-inspired
wearable art, immersive experiences, and lifestyle pieces that
carry the soul of this island wherever they go.
At the heart of Bold Fashion is a simple but profound belief:
just as the calabash fruit can be hollowed out, shaped, and
transformed into something extraordinary, so can we. Every
time life breaks us down, we carry within us the power to come
back harder, more beautiful, and more ourselves than ever
before. That is not just the brand philosophy. It is the lived
experience of the woman who built it.
Bold Fashion transforms unconventional, often overlooked
materials like calabash fruit, buttons, safety pins and shoelaces
into one of a kind wearable art, home decor, and lifestyle
experiences. Each piece is handcrafted in Curaçao, rooted in
the island’s heritage, and designed with the kind of intention
that only comes from someone who creates from purpose, not
just profession.
Featured in Caribbean Beat Magazine for sustainable wearable
art and Travel Weekly UK for wearable art experiences Bold Fashion is beloved by locals and travelers alike not just for what it makes, but for what it means.
Rooted in Curaçao. Inspired by heritage. Designed for your rebirth.

MY STORY
By Junaiska Geferts, Founder
My name is Junaiska Geferts. Born and raised on the beautiful
island of Curaçao. And for a long time, I wore a blazer to
prove I belonged in every room I walked into.
I started working at 12 years old. I loved the executive look; the structure, the sharpness, the sense of purpose it gave
me. And with every blazer came a few extra buttons. I kept
them all without ever really knowing why.
In September 2013, I reached a turning point. I was searching not just for a new direction, but for my reason. I got on
my knees and asked God to please reveal to me what I was meant
to do on this earth. What my real intention was. What gift I
was carrying that the world actually needed.
The answer came in the most unexpected form.
I looked over at my bedside drawer and saw a small pile of
buttons I had been unconsciously collecting for years. In that
moment, a vision came to me clear and immediate. I picked
up the phone and called my sister. “Come with me,” I said.
“I need to buy more buttons.” We went out that same day, and
I made my first statement button necklace.
The moment I put it on, something woke up in me.
I started wearing my handmade creations everywhere to work,
to events, everywhere. And everywhere I went, people stopped
me. “Where did you buy that?” they’d ask. I would smile and
say, “I made it myself.” The requests started coming in almost
immediately. That was how Bold Fashion was born — not from a
business plan, but from a calling answered with buttons and
a phone call to my sister.
What I didn’t know then was that this was also a memory
awakening. Making jewelry wasn’t new to me. As children, my
sister and I had learned jewelrymaking techniques in a class
called manual labor. We would go home and create more, and
our mother would wear our pieces and share them with friends
and colleagues. She still has some of those pieces today.
Bold Fashion didn’t start in 2013. It started in childhood.
I just didn’t know it yet.
A year into building the brand, a colleague changed everything
with one simple suggestion: “Have you ever worked with
calabash? It grows right here on the island.”
The word landed differently than she could have imagined.
Because in that moment I was taken back.. back to my
great-grandmother’s garden, back to my grandmother’s house,
back to the calabash trees I grew up playing under as a little
girl with my sisters. That fruit had been part of my story
long before I ever thought to create with it. It wasn’t just
a new material. It was a homecoming. A full circle moment that
told me I was exactly where I was supposed to be.
The calabash became the soul of Bold Fashion. And its meaning
became the brand’s deepest truth that transformation is not
something that happens to us. It is something we choose.
The calabash gets hollowed out. Shaped. Reimagined. And it
becomes something more beautiful than it was before.
So do we.
Today, Bold Fashion is a full creative world: wearable art,
home decor, lifestyle pieces, and immersive experiences that
invite you not just to wear the island, but to feel it. The
Art of Rebirth workshop lets guests paint their own calabash
earrings from scratch and leave wearing something they made
with their own hands. Girls Night Out gathers women monthly
around a table to create, connect, and remember who they are.
Every collection, every charm, every piece is a reminder that
your story is not over. The best parts may still be forming.
I spent years doubting whether this was really it. Whether
this business was truly aligned with the purpose I had prayed
for. Those doubts faded the moment I stopped asking whether
Bold Fashion was my purpose and started accepting that it
already was. The searching led me to the gift. The gift was
always mine to share.
So if you’re reading this whether you’re holding one of our
pieces, planning to visit us in Curaçao, or simply stumbled
onto this page while looking for something you can’t quite
name yet, I want you to know this:
Your uniqueness is not something to manage or hide.
It is your greatest power.
Own it. Live it. Walk boldly in it.
That is what Bold Fashion is for.
Own Your Uniqueness
