At Bold Fashion, every creation tells a story of rebirth, transformation, and empowerment. What began as a necklace made from buttons in 2013 has grown into a multi-faceted brand that celebrates the beauty of being unique and staying true to your own journey.
Founder Junaiska Geferts was first inspired to create with calabash fruit when a colleague brought her a calabash from her garden. In that moment, she rediscovered a forgotten part of her childhood; memories of growing up around calabash trees in her great-grandmother’s and grandmother’s gardens, where she and her sisters once played. That connection rooted Bold Fashion in both heritage and transformation.
Today, Bold Fashion transforms unconventional and often overlooked materials like calabash fruit, buttons, shoelaces, safety pins into one-of-a-kind wearable art, home décor, and lifestyle experiences. Each piece reflects the brand’s belief that just like the calabash, every person carries within them the power to grow, transform, and shine into who they are meant to be.

MY STORY
My name is Junaiska Geferts, born and raised on the beautiful Island Curaçao.
In september 2013, after a bad breakup, I set out to heal and reinvent myself. I desperately needed to find out what really makes me happy, which led me into finding my life purpose.
On a random day I found some buttons, from my work blazers i used to purchase (with every blazer you got a few extra buttons), on my bedside drawer. I got a vision to use these buttons as the basis for a statement necklace. I immediately called my sister and asked her to go out with me to buy more buttons so I can make my first necklace.
That was when i remembered how me and sister used to make jewelry back in kindergarten. We learned some techniques in a class called manual labor and we went home and created more with the techniques we learned. My mom used to wear those jewelry and sell them with friends and colleagues. She still has some of our pieces from back then.
From the moment I created my first button necklace I started to wear my own, handmade creations everywhere I went. To my biggest surprise several people approached me to ask where I bought my jewelry. I would proudly respond: “I make them myself!” I got many requests asking if I could make such unique statement button necklace for them; and that was how Bold Fashion was born.
I decided to start my own business in unique, handmade, exclusive jewelry. I expanded my products from necklaces to also making bracelets, earrings and all kind of accessories. Even though the demand for my products was high, I was full of doubt in the beginning. I was asking myself if this is what I was looking for, is this company in line with my life purpose?
My doubts started to fade out when I realized that this is my truth, accepting who I am and owning my uniqueness. Now I strongly believe that I found my unique gift, and this gift I want to share with others through Bold Fashion. It turns out that by searching for myself I have found my passion; making one of a kind statement jewelry which will inspire others to express and own their uniqueness to the world too.
I wish for everyone to be authentic and Own their Uniqueness! Because, when you own your uniqueness, accept and live in your truth it will bring you closer to your Life Purpose.
