The Art of Rebirth is a hands-on calabash painting workshop where you paint your own pair of calabash earrings from scratch and walk out wearing them. No art experience needed. No two pieces ever look the same. Just you, your colors, and a fruit that has been part of Curaçao’s soul for generations.

The calabash is more than a fruit here. It’s a symbol of transformation and evolution. It gets hollowed out, shaped, and reimagined into something entirely new, and so can we. Held at the beautiful outdoor venue La Hacienda Olivia (Kaya Mila 12) in Banda Ariba, Curaçao, this 1hr to 1.5 hour experience is one part cultural journey, one part creative workshop, and one part wearable souvenir,  all in one.

THE STUD — Small or Medium
Simple. Bold. Wearable from day one.
The classic calabash stud is your canvas in its purest form. A single, beautifully prepped calabash disc that you’ll paint entirely your own way. Choose small for a subtle, everyday look or medium for a little more presence. Paint your story, and leave wearing a piece of Curaçao you made with your own hands.

THE DANGLE — Medium
Movement. Color. A little drama.
The dangle is for the guest who wants their earrings to say something when they walk into a room. A medium calabash piece, prepped and ready for your design, finished with a gentle swing that catches the light. Paint it, wear it, and let it tell the story of the day you created something from nothing.

THE STATEMENT — Double Calabash
Two pieces. One earring. Unforgettable.
The Statement is our most layered experience, two calabash pieces connected as one earring. A stud base with a second calabash piece flowing beneath it, giving you twice the canvas and twice the creative freedom. If you want to go bold, this is your style. Each piece you paint becomes part of a wearable art moment that is completely, unmistakably yours.

Do I need to know how to paint?
Not at all. This experience is for everyone — beginners, kids, and creatives alike. You’ll be guided every step of the way and leave with something beautiful no matter your skill level.

Will I actually be able to wear the earrings the same day?
Yes! Your earrings are prepped and ready to paint. Once finished and dried, they’re yours to wear immediately. A true made-in-Curaçao souvenir.

What’s the difference between the earring styles?
The Stud is a single calabash shell. The Dangle has movement and flow. The Statement is two calabash pieces connected as one earring, the most dramatic and creative option. All styles are equally fun to paint!

What should I wear?
Comfortable clothes you don’t mind getting a little paint on. We’re outdoors at La Hacienda Olivia, so light and breathable is best.

Can I book for a group or private event?
Absolutely. We love group bookings: bachelorettes, birthday parties, team building, retreat activities. Contact us to arrange a private experience tailored to your group.

Is this suitable for children?
Children 8 and older are welcome. It makes for a wonderful family memory and a keepsake they’ll treasure.

I’m visiting Curaçao, how far is the venue from the hotels and cruise port?
La Hacienda Olivia is located in Banda Ariba, the eastern side of the island. Most major hotels and resorts are within 15–30 minutes. We recommend renting a car or arranging a taxi.

What is the cancellation policy?
Full refund for cancellations made 7 or more days before your session. No refund for cancellations within 48 hours. Date changes are welcome with 72 hours notice, subject to availability.

Will there be photos?
Yes! Digital photos of your experience are available upon request, so you can relive and share the moment.
